It’s the month of May and I’m still recovering from March/April’s NCAA Basketball tournament. For the most part, most of the games were terrific. Some of the best basketball I have personally seen in quite a while.

Congratulations to Virginia for winning the Championship Game, but also congrats to Texas Tech for even getting to the final. Lots of fans that follow the NCAA tournament were surprised to see Duke and North Carolina go down so early in the tournament, including me.

But now it’s on the NBA finals. Once again the Los Angeles Lakers did not make the playoffs, how many years does this make now?

Back in 2012 the Lakers actually made it to the first round but lost to the Spurs. Back in 2011 they made it to the second round, but lost to the Thunder. It hasn’t been since 2010 that the LA Lakers beat the Celtics to win the NBA Finals.

Don’t know if Magic Johnson left the Laker organization due to not making the playoffs or if it was something else, but whatever the reason, he is not longer with them.

Of course now that Magic is gone, everyone has an opinion of what or who should step up and take his place.

Also don’t know if this is going to be good news for the Lakers, or bad, but the Lakers head coach, Luke Walton is also gone, but I think everyone expected that to happen when the season the Lakers had.

Hopefully the Lakers will use the draft to shore up some of the missing pieces to help the team make it to the playoffs for 2020.

The NBA Draft Combine officially starts between the dates of May 14th to May 19th.

Now the Los Angeles Clippers have fared a bit better than their rivals, they have at least made it to the first round of the playoffs

The last day of the NBA regular season was Wednesday, April 10. And the 2019 NBA playoffs began three days later on Saturday, April 13.

The Clippers played the Golden State Warriors in the first game of round 1 and lost. However, in the second game of round 1 the Clippers who were losing by over 30 points, managed to actually win the game. Unfortunately for the Clipper fans, they did not make it to the second round.

As sports fans we know that there is always ‘next year’, but it does get a bit tiring when ‘next year’ doesn’t seem to ever come.

Hopefully with a new manager, and a few good choices in the draft, the Lakers can once again become the power house they use to be, as well as the Clippers.

I, along with a whole lot of LA fans, would love to both the Clippers and the Lakers make it to the Championship Game next year. As well as both the USC and the UCLA basketball teams make it to the Championship Game in the March Madness 2020.
