NFL Playoffs For 2020

It’s Time for the NFL playoffs for 2020, Pro Football Playoffs.

Eventually ending with the one and only ‘Super Bowl’. The best team from the AFC (American Football Conference) playing the best team of the NFC (National Football Conference) for the title.

This year the NFL playoff NFL playoffs for 2020begins on Saturday, January 4, 2020, with the AFC Wild-Card games.

The NFL playoff for 2020 will began with the AFC teams that actually made it to the ‘wildcard’ are the Buffalo Bills vs the Houston Texans.

The second AFC Wild-Card game will also be played on January 4, and it will be the
Tennessee Titans vs the New England Patriots.

The NFC ‘wild-card’ games will be January 5, 2020, with the first game being the Minnesota Vikings playing the New Orleans Saints.

The second game will be the Seattle Seahawks playing
the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL Playoff Schedule

I was hoping to see a repeat of the LA Rams going to the Super Bowl, but apparently they didn’t
even make it to the playoffs this year, nor did the LA Charges.

In fact, there were a whole lot of teams on the losing end this season, for whatever reason, they just couldn’t get it all together.

There was at least 16 teams that weren’t even at 500, in other words, they lost more than half
their games played. (And the NFL wonders why popularity in football is dropping)

It makes you think, is this the results of bad coaching, along with the referees not understanding
the new football ‘guidelines’?

I mean, do they even know what pass interference is anymore, or what constitutes holding or roughing the passer?

I also had a hard time understanding the 10-second runoff on the clock within the two minute
warning.

I was led to believe the run-off would occur if the team with the ball had an injury or
a penalty that would cause a delay in the game, so sort an ‘unauthorized timeout’.

However, this season I saw that within the last 2 minute of the game a 10-second runoff was applied several times when the ‘booth’ called for a review of the last scoring play.

It didn’t matter that neither team actually called for the booth review, and it was automatically called by the booth itself or the referees on the field, the 10-second runoff was done.

No explanation that I am aware of has ever been given to the home viewers as to why this applied, and in other cases it didn’t.

I mean, I like to know. That 10-second runoff did make a different in a few games.

The NFL playoffs for 2020 continues January 11 and January 12 with the winners of the AFC wild card
games playing the divisional winners of the AFC.

The winners of the NFC wild card games will play the divisional winners of the NFC.

The last round of the playoffs before the Super Bowl will be played on January 19 with the two
winners of the AFC games playing each other for the right to move onto the Super Bowl.

Also being played with be the two winners of the NFC games to battle it out to see who moves
onto Super Bowl 54

Super Bowl LIV, the Super Bowl LIV and the 50th modern-era National Football League (NFL)
championship game will decide the league champion for the league’s 2019 and 100th season.

The game is scheduled to be played on February 2, 2020, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, marking the seventh different decade for the Super Bowl For a whole lot of people.

The half-time show is almost as important as the game itself and this year’s promises to be a ‘Show Stopper” with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s as the Super Bowl Half-Time Show.

Over the years, the Super Bowl has become so much more than just a football game. Friends and family members gather together to watch the Super Bowl, However, it is also a great time just to celebrate the year new.

Eating and drinking are on the top of the list of what to do while watching.

Would it surprise to find out that the number one food item at Super Bowl parties is guacamole with chips. More Avocados are eating on this day than any other day in the year.

February 2 is also Groundhog Day, so not only will we be watching the Super Bowl game, but the morning of February 2, Punxsutawney Phi will make his appearance and predict how long winter will last.

Football Season 2019 Is Starting

It is August and that means the Football Season 2019 Is Starting

Can you believe that the Football Season for 2019 Football Season 2019 is Startinghas already started with the first pre-season game between the Denver Broncos playing the Atlanta Falcons tonight August 1st.

It might not even feel like football season yet, especially with the outside temperatures close to or over 100, but nevertheless it’s here.

The month of August is the time to decide whether or not to sign up for Fantasy football.

August 08 is the first pre-season game for the Los Angeles Charges and they will be playing the Arizona Cardinals. www.chargers.com

August 10 the Los Angeles Rams will be playing the Oakland Raiders www.therams.com

The official start of the 2019 football schedule won’t be until September 5, which will be a Thursday night game with the Green Bay Packers playing the Bears.

For the complete NFL 2019 schedule check out – www.nfl.com/schedules/2019

But for the month of August, its preseason which allows us football fans, especially those of us that also play Fantasy Football, to get to know the players, who is injured, who is not.

We get to check out the new players and to see who got traded where. August gets us ready for our draft, when we get to pick who we want as our Fantasy Football team.

ESPN has a site that will rank the teams and the individual players to help you will your selections.

It also has several links to help you get your league up and running, especially if you are new to Fantasy Football. www.espn.com/fantasy/football

This is the Yahoo’s site for signing up to play Fantasy Football, in case you do not want to use the ESPN’s site.

football.fantasysports.yahoo.com

For all ‘non’ fantasy football players, August is also important, it is a really good time to start stocking up on various food items, such as chicken wings, chips, dips and an assortment of drinks.

It’s always better to be prepared in case someone stopped by to watch a game or two with you.

It is going to be very interesting to see how well the LA Rams and the LA Chargers play this year.

Last year they both did well, The LA Charges made it past the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild-Card game, but then lost to the New England Patriots the following weekend in the Divisional Payoffs.

The LA Rams beat the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the Divisional Playoffs, and then went on the beat the New Orleans Saints in NFC Championship Game.

The Rams did make it all the way to the Super Bowl, unfortunately, they lost to the New England Patriots.

Many sorts fans that watch the game had some serious doubts about the penalties called against the Ram and certain penalties that should have been called against New England.

It definitely made it a game that was talked about for several weeks after the season was over,

If only the Los Angeles Charges had beat the New England Patriots in the Wild Card Game then go on to beat the Kansas City Chiefs, both the LA Rams and the LA Charges would have played each other in the Super Bowl.

Now that would have been a Super Bowl!

Good Luck to both of our Los Angeles team, the Charges and the Rams, and let the games begin!

Super Bowl 53

Super Bowl  53,  Top AFC ( American Football Conference ) Team verses the NFC (National Football Conference) top team

Here a little history of the Super Bowl

This year’s Super Bowl

will be played February 3, and in the city of Atlanta at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Super Bowl 53

afc vs nfc

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is almost a brand-new facility that just happens to feature a giant glass wall, and while weather again will not be a factor in an indoor stadium for the Super Bowl , attendees will appreciate warmer temperatures outside the venue.

Super Bowl LIII will mark the third time Atlanta has hosted the game. The previous two (1994 and 2000) took place in the Georgia Dome.

CBS will be the station that will show the Super Bowl L111 (53), on your television set, and you can stream on ‘CBS All Access’

www.nfl.com

Every Super Bowl since 2003 has taken place during the first week of February.  From 1967-2003, all but one Super Bowl took place in January.  This was due to the expansion that took place in 2002 when the NFL expanded to 32 teams.

www.sportingnews.com

Now we all know that the Super Bowl parties have become as important or even more important than the actual game.  No matter where you look, there is something on sale that revolves around watching the game with friends.

If you have been waiting for a good deal on a new TV set, this is it, this is the time to get out there and buy one.  Every store that sells TV’s has the ‘perfect one on sale just in time to watch the Super Bowl, including Walmart and Target.

And let’s not forget the food and drink, every grocery store in America has something on ‘special’ that they are offering to make your gathering special.

The Super Bowl is not about the game itself anymore, but about a real good reason to get together with friends and family. A simple party really, no presents to buy,  no piñatas,  just a whole lot of food and drink to celebrate nothing more than a game of football.

It doesn’t even matter to most sports fans who is actually playing that day, of course, it’s an added bonus if your team is one of the two teams actually playing that day, but if your team didn’t make it this year, it’s not going to stop you from watching the game.

9 reasons to go to a Super Bowl Party even if you don’t care who’s playing

www.theodysseyonline.com

The first official ‘Super Bowl’ was played in 1967 when the Green bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs.    It was such a brand-new concept that the game didn’t even sell out.

History of Super Bowl

en.wikipedia.org

The game was played January 15, at the LA Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles.

And because the game was played here in California there was a TV blackout in the Los Angeles area, as per the NFL, yet the game still did not sell out.

This year it will be ‘Super Bowl 53’ and the game has definitely taken on a life of its own.  The day the Super Bowl is played is been considered by most as an unofficial American National Holiday,  affectionately called ‘Super Bowl Sunday’.

It is the second-largest day in the US for eating, of course, Thanksgiving being number one.

It has also become the most watched American TV broadcast of the year.  The TV audience has grown over the years to over 114 million viewers.  That’s a whole lot of people getting together just to celebrate a game and eat a whole lot of food

Good luck to what teams makes it into the Super Bowl this year and if your team didn’t make it this year, there is always next year.

August That Means Football

August That Means Football

It’s August – That Means Football !! American Football

You can just feel the excitement in the air and around the TV sets at family or friends gatherings. It starts out slowly at first and continues to keep building.

FOOTBALL is just around the corner for both professional and college football.

Whether it’s the NFL, College or even the Pop Warner leagues, it’s all about the game of football. Not soccer, not kick ball but American Football

We love the game of football. Even with last year changes to the game and more changes yet to come this year, we do still love our football.

www.nfl.com

ESPN, Sports Central and various other sports programs are all starting to focus more on football and less on ’other sports’.  Even baseball will take a backseat to the start of the football season. It’s all about the game.

www.espn.com

It starts in late July with talks of who is getting trading, or who is coming off an injury from practice or even last year, but it doesn’t stop with that.  The sports reporters are also keeping us informed on the players personal lives as well.  Who got married, divorced, or arrested.

What players and coaches got caught doing drugs, alcohol, who cheated on their wives or girlfriend?  Again, it’s all about keeping football in the headlines even if that means only gossip.

Brady has won power struggle against Belichick, and now he’s sticking it to him

The hype is on!

There is also the ever-increasing world of ‘Fantasy Football’.  Football fans are spending hours searching the internet for news on their favorite players.  Who’s got the best stats?

What team has the best defense?  There is a strong believe that Fantasy Football is the reason the football has gain so many new followers than just a few years ago.  TV ratings are good for the individual games shown on regular TV, but with the return of RED ZONE’ by Satellite and cable it will continue to increase to an all-time new level, especially for ‘Fantasy Football fans.

The newest surprise to the world of Fantasy Football is the sudden surge in the amount of women that are now participating

espn.com/fantasy/football

Red Zone still continues to show all the games played on Sunday during the football season when the teams enter the Red Zone and with almost no commercials. It also keeps track of individual player’s stats.

The problem with Red Zone is the ever-increasing monthly fee, I tried it out when it was only a few bucks a month but now it can cost up to $15.00 a month if you have cable.

ESPN has taken it one step further for the needs of the fantasy football fan, they will keep track of your whole team’s stats and the stats of the teams your team is playing against every week.

This means that just before the season officially starts, sports fans will hurdle together and have their own drafting parties.  At these gathering everyone gets to select their players and their replacements for the season.

Here a link to ESPN that you can use to up-load your fantasy football team,

With the runaway success of fantasy football last year, the NFL is more than eager to help keep football in the news.  Unfortunately, all the news out there has not always been good, but it does keep football on the front burner.

We still have football players running into trouble with the law before the start of the
regular season.

You have to wonder what goes through their heads, just when the coaches and the team owners are watching every move they make they get into trouble.  Not a good thing when by the start of the regular season in September, the NFL teams will have to be down to around fifty or so players.  As a player who is on the edge and hasn’t quite made the team, I would want to be noticed for my skill and nothing else.

Fantasy Football, Are You Going To Play?

As a fantasy football player, not only do you have to be concerned with injuries, but who might be getting a suspension and for how long.

Good luck to you as you start selecting and assembling your NFL Fantasy Football team!

For those of us that also like watching college football, it is also gearing up to start, preseason will end in August and the regular season starting right around September 2.

I am a UCLA fan and the rivalry game between USC and UCLA, and they will be playing their annual show down on November 17 at the Rose Bowl this year.

There is a lot of talk by sport experts this year on what college team will be the best this year; so far Alabama leads the top of the list of the top 25 college teams once again

As a football fan while gearing up for the new season, will start out with a stop at our favorite local market for chicken wings, chips, and beer or wine, if we are going to be watching the games at our home or at a friend’s.  It will also include a quick arranging of our schedule to make sure we are within range of a television set, computer or even a cell phone to keep track of our fantasy teams.

Let’s play football and good luck to your favorite team this year!

By the way the New LA teams Rams and Chargers will be playing Sept 23 the Chargers at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

NFL Football Season 2017

The NFL Football Season for 2017 has not been it best year, it may even be the beginning of the end of football, at least as we know it.

nfl football season 2017

Pro Football Season 2017

They are several sports announcers and even several players claiming that unless there are changes in the way the NFL is played, the end of football is near. It has been said that Professional Football may be a dying sport.

NFL Football Season 2017, has had a rocky start.

Midway through NFL season, football ratings are down
https://sports.yahoo.com/midway-nfl-season-football-ratings-down-203641700–nfl.html

I used to really love watching football, and I have been watching it since the early 60’s. Football has survived several strikes by players and lockouts by the owners, but this past year, it has been a combination of several things and has many owners and fans wondering about the future of football.

The Referrers have certainly done their best to drive professional football into the ground. There is no flow to the games anymore. Just as a team looks like it might be doing something interesting, there’s a flag thrown. Over and over again though out the whole game its flag after flag. Some are definitely called for, but you and I both know that some of the calls are so very iffy. Referrers should not be able to determine the winner of the game or what the point spread will be. They are just killing the game.

The Refs are ruining the game
http://www.espn.com/espn/page2/story?page=thompson/041216

Then add the ‘new’ type of sports announcer. They are filled with all sorts of sport facts, but very little personality. They are so boring. They, themselves, seem bored with the game. Monday night football use to be fun to watch but now, not as much.

I wish Jon Gruden’s new partner would show a little more excitement for the game. Same holds true for other sports announcers as well. Thursday night game announcers rarely show any interest in the game let along any excitement.

You can also add the lack of really good players to the list as well. There definitely seems to be shortages of good quarterbacks or a decent front line to protect them and don’t even get me started on what happened to receivers that can actually catch the ball.

Football can and should survive any of the above, but all of them in one season? Then add the most damaging event that has directly affected football the most and that is the kneeling during the National Anthem.

TV viewers and what advertisers will pay for TV ads is where the NFL actually makes their money. They need sponsorship’s to pay the highly priced salaries of their professional football players. It also puts a whole lot of money into the owners pockets as well. But viewership is down by over 5%, which has gotten the attention of several sponsors, such as ‘Papa John’ and ‘Nike’ who are threatening to pull out of advertising during the NFL games

This Is Why the NFL Is Losing Viewers
http://stevetobak.com/2017/10/01/nfl-losing-viewers/

No matter how you look at it, football is a great sport. But it’s changing, and not for the better. I’m talking about the way the owners have turned pro football into a nanny sport. With all the nutty rules, penalties, play reviews, and game delays, no wonder googling “NFL no fun league” got more than five million results.

The league is losing millions of viewers every year. It will be interesting to see how the NFL owners, the players and their sponsors can do to fix this or if it can even be fixed. Let’s all hope that a solution can be found before the 2018 season.

There are people that will go to a game, like there was when we were ask to boycott football for Veteran’s day Weekend. You know those bargain seekers looking for these ticket they usually can’t afford. Those bargain seekers will not support the salaries these players are getting today.

Players, your salaries are being paid by today’s Sponsors and by people willing to pay those overprice tickets to watch you play. Those people that watch you on TV want a fast moving game with no politics.

I watch football for entertainment only, which football has not been this year. Add to that the number of people that only look at the stats for fantasy football and probably don’t even watch the games. Football as we know it today may come to an end.

The LA Chargers Pro Football Team

Just last year around this time my sport blog was all about the Rams football team moving to Los Angeles.   It is now one year later and yes, we still have the Los Angeles Rams although, not everyone is happy with their performance on the field.

Now it seems the City of LA will also be getting a second NFL football team, our cup indeed runneth over.  It seems that the San Diego Chargers will soon become the newest Los Angeles NFL team.

http://fox2now.com/2017/01/12/san-diego-chargers-to-announce-move-to-l-a/

What was the reason for the Chargers moving to LA?  They want a new stadium. Now I have actually been to QualComm Stadium which used to be called Murphy Stadium back in the 60’s. It is an old stadium and would cost millions to upgrade to meet the new standards demanded by the NFL which is why a new stadium was being assessed as a solution.

Unfortunately for the San Diego Chargers neither the owner of the team or the San Diego taxpayers were willing to foot the bill for a new stadium.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qualcomm_Stadium

With their move to LA they will share the brand new state of the art stadium already planned for the LA Rams

Southern California does seem to be the new hub-hub for sports; we have two very good local baseball teams, The Dodgers and The Angels.  We have two basketball teams, the LA Lakers and the Clippers, also two good hockey teams the LA Kings and the Anaheim Ducks. LA also has two pro-soccer teams, the LA Football Club and the LA Galaxy.  Not to mention two very good and very competitive local colleges UCLA and USC both with very good football and basketball teams.  Now add two NFL Football teams.

Congratulations, Los Angeles: You Now Have 2 Terrible Football Teams

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/12/sports/football/los-angeles-chargers-san-diego-nfl.html?_r=0

As we know local Sports teams are good for our Southern California’s economy. They do provide jobs and lots of jobs for local residents.  Restaurants, hotels, car rentals, and even local merchants selling fan apparel or food will do extremely well.

What won’t do well are our local freeways and roadways.  Game days will become traffic nightmares. Traffic was so bad for the Ram’s home games many people missed the whole first half sitting in traffic just blocks away from the game.  Don’t even get me started on what people were willing to pay for parking.  Last I heard it was a $100 to be less than one mile away from a game at the Coliseum at Exposition Park, around $50.00 if the fan was willing to park over a mile away and walk.

http://www.discoverlosangeles.com/blog/guide-attending-los-angeles-rams-games-coliseum

With the ‘Los Angeles’ Chargers it could be even worse.  At least where the Rams are playing the stadium has around 92,000 seats.  The Charges are schedule to play as early as next season in their temporary home at the StubHub Center, which is located on the campus of California State University Dominquez Hills in Carson.  Unfortunately for many Charger fans, the stadium only has 30,000+ seats with approximately only 3,000 premium and field seats, worse yet, only around 10,000 on-site parking spaces.

http://www.chargers.com/news/2017/01/12/chargers-relocate-los-angeles

This will definitely be ‘first come – first serve’ as far as ticket sales goes, far worse than what happened when the Los Angeles Ram tickets first went up for sale.

However the local merchants surrounding the Carson stadium will definitely prosper as did the local merchants around the LA Coliseum.

Hopefully once the two teams are actually playing in their official stadium, the traffic and parking woes will be reduced.  I am also hopeful that either the Metro or Amtrak will step-up and be able to provide much needed relief for fans by providing direct transportation to the games.

Will end my blog by simply saying ‘Welcome to LA’ to the new LA Chargers and their fans.

Unfortunately for several players and coaches, January is not just for playoffs and Bowl Games; it also means a chance to become unemployed or at least forced to look for another team.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/18159435/nfl-hot-seat-index-coaches-get-fired-safe-2016

There are several NFL teams that didn’t even come close to meeting their expectations. The Cleveland Browns for one, another being the Jacksonville Jaguars and let’s not forget the San Francisco 49’s.  These teams were a whole lot better on paper than what actually showed up on the field of battle.

However, the biggest flop is the Los Angeles Rams.  This was the hottest ticket on the planet with their season tickets being sold out in just a few hours after hitting the market.

There are going to be more than just a few fans that will not be renewing their season tickets for the LA Ram games, will at least not unless there are slightly discounted.

It was due to the really bad game between the LA Rams and the Atlantic Falcons played on Sunday December 11 that was the final straw for the owner of the Rams.  In order for the owner to save whatever is left of the team and fan support, drastic measures had to be taken and that meant the coach Jeff Fisher was fired.

Football January 2017

It is not just the NFL that will be moving players and coaches around, colleges will also be playing musical chairs with their coaches.  Fortunately for most players they are tried in to the college with their scholarships and cannot easily be moved around from school to school.

Several colleges have already changed, fired, let go, what you want to call it.

Lane Kiffin took a pay cut to leave Alabama and become the head coach at Florida Atlantic.

There are also several coaches that the fans would love to see ‘gone’.  The first of these coaches that fans are insisting on being replaced is the UCLA’s coach.  UCLA’s season was not even close to what is expected from the talent that they had.  Their season was so bad, that they didn’t even make an invite to a bowl.

Over the next several weeks, more and more coaches and players will find themselves on new teams or forced into early retirements only time will tell, as sports fans we hope for the best, but prepare for the worse.

Happy New Year from www.Sportstalk4dummies.com

Football 2016

What wrong with football

What’s going on with the game of football?  Is it just me or has the game become a bit boring this year?     Don’t get me wrong, I love ‘football’, but something is missing this season.  Could it be that the TV football fans are missing!

Sagging NFL TV ratings leave owners scrambling for answers

www.usatoday.com

It is the change in some of the rules?  This year there was a bunch of changes made.  It seems that the refs have been throwing the yellow flag on just about every play.   I know that the changes were made to protect the players.  But the changes are open to the interpretation of the rules by the refs and it seems that the refs have been a bit over the top.

It’s been so bad that not even the sports announcers know why the ‘yellow’ flag are tossed onto the field of play.  You have to wonder that if the announcers are struggling with the call along with the players and their coaches; how the fans are suppose to know what’s going on.

ESPN’s Sean McDonough Is The Bravest Man In Broadcasting For Ripping NFL Ratings And Officiating:

www.forbes.com

The one new rule that is really bugging me is the ‘taunting rule’.   Come on, taunting is what football is all about.  Catching the uncatchable pass, stacking the quarter back, making the touchdown and doing you thing in the end zone is the stuff the fans eat up.  We love it!  And instead on teaching the other guy, the one being taunted not to over react, they punish the winner.   It does seem to take all of the fun out watching football.

Baseball still allows taunting and so does basketball, again makes you wonder why football players aren’t being allowed to enjoy their ‘special’ moment in the sun.

Perhaps the problem in the amount of days that football is now being played.  You have college football on Friday and Saturday for the most part, then the NFL on Sunday, Monday and now on Thursday, that’s a lot of football.

NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ has lowest ratings since 2011

www.thetrucker.com

Perhaps it just comes down to the quality of the games.  When you are getting blowout games in the NFL, you have to ask why.  Why are so many teams not playing up to the expectation of the team’s owners and their fans?

Are the teams being hampered by the excessive amount of injuries that have racked the NFL this year and if so, why are there so many injuries?  I don’t remember a time before this year that so many players were injured before the season even started.

There is one additional reason, at least one that the NFL is blaming for the low TV ratings.   They are claiming that Fans are watching fewer NFL games due to protests by several players during the National Anthem which was started by Colin Kaepernick as the primary reason.

sports.yahoo.com

The fact is that TV ratings are down for football this year no matter what the reasons are. However, the number of people playing Fantasy Football has only slightly fattened.  That should make the NFL wonder why!

Also more women are watching football and the sales of women’s NFL sport attire is on the rise, which does seem support that, but fewer fans are actually watching football on their TV’s.

What should be a main concern to the NFL is that there is a whole lot less young adults watching football.  There are a few out there, but with social media, they are not confined to just their TV sets to watch football, they can peak at the games on their cell phones or Ipads while still enjoying a day out with friends and family.

Young adults are not totally abandoning the NFL; they are the reason for Fantasy Football.  But even Fantasy Football has seen a flattening out of participants this year,

www.legalsportsreport.com

With TV ratings down, advertisers will definitely want to roll back the hefty prices being paid to the NFL and the team’s owners.   The NFL and the team’s owners will probably have to play along with the TV sponsors and then find other means to make up the potential loss in income.   Raising ticket prices is one way, but ticket prices are at an all time record high in some areas already.

NFL ratings plunge could spell doom for traditional TV.

www.washingtonpost.com

It will be interested to see how the NFL will adjust to this.  What changes will they come up with for the NFL season for next year?  There has even been talk about re-aligning the divisions that the teams are in.  They hope that this would help stimulate better competition between teams and thus gain new fans to the game of football.  There is also small talk about less games and a shorter season, then again there is also talk about adding more teams, which could mean more games and a longer season. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Ready For Some Football

Ready for some football, the 2016 is about to start

it'ready for some football

it’s time for football

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?

Believe it or not, the 2016/2017 football season is upon us.

It doesn’t seems all that long ago that we were getting all worked up over the 2016 Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos becoming the NFL Superbowl champions. Remember this headliner ‘Broncos Win Super Bowl 50 as Defense Swarms Panthers’

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/08/sports/football/broncos-win-super-bowl-50.html?_r=0

However that was last season, this football season starts with the first pre-season game on August 11, which will be several teams playing a Thursday night game, The games being play that I will be keeping an eye on will be Denver at Chicago and New Orleans at New England.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/schedules/preseason

The LA Ram’s first pre-season game will be Saturday, August 13 and it will be played at 5:00pm at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum against Dallas.

Funny thing about pre-season games is that most of the pre-season games being played either Thursday, Friday, Saturday or even Sunday will cost between $10 to $20 each, but then there is the Game between Cleveland and Green Bay at Lambeau Field, these tickets will cost you around $50. However, the trophy for overpricing goes to the LA Rams, their tickets will cost around $94.00 each, can we say Ouch!

The actually opening day for the NFL season will be Thursday, September 8, at 5:30 and what better way to start off then a re-match between the winners of the 2016 Superbowl, the Denver Broncos playing the losers, The Carolina Panthers.

www.nlf.com/schedule/2016/REG1

This game is already getting a whole lot of hype. The Panthers will look to exact a measure of revenge for their defeat in Super Bowl 50 over the now Peyton Manning-less Broncos.

Not just the panthers, but specially one person and that will be Cam Newton, especially after all the criticism regarding that fumble by him in the final minutes of the game which lead to the panthers losing.

With the start of football comes Fantasy Football of course, I am hopeful that this year I will do better than what I did last year. Had no trouble picking the winning teams week and week, but totally blew it when it came to picking a good fantasy team.

This year as a fantasy player you are going to need a score card on who got traded to where and who just flat out retired. Then you will have to figure in who is already hurt and who is on suspension. Of course, this list already contains the New England Patriots quarterback who likely will sit out the first four games of the 2016 season after a court denied his appeal.

Below are a couple of links that will show a list of players that were traded and a list of players that have retired.

There is also a link that rates the NFL Disaster Ratings: Retirement and Injury, this could and should be helpful in determining how long a player is expected to remain on the list of injured players.

During the football off season, ESPN and several of the other fantasy football sites have set their eyes on the growing number of women who are playing fantasy football. Women are the fastest growing market of football fans.

It’s not just fantasy football that has noticed the growth of women watching and enjoying football. New Era and several other official sponsors of NFL apparel are now carrying a full line of Jersey, T-shirts, hats and other miscellaneous items especially for women.

No longer will women have to wear over size jerseys, jerseys that are just too large!

This should be a great football season, especially for us football fans here in Los Angeles. We now have our own team, hopefully this time around, the rams will stick around a while and not just up and jump to other city when they feel the urge. I remember going to the Ram games when they played in the LA Coliseum back before they jumped to Anaheim and the Angel Stadium. Then they jumped again to Saint Louis. Was a die-hard Ram fan, now they are going to have to win me back.

Like I said, its going to be a great football season
