2017 World Series Scandal

Sports blog – December 2019

Don’t know how many sport fans actually heard about the 2017 World Series scandal? 2017 World Series Scandal

It was all over Facebook and several sport sites, however not a whole lot of mentioning of the scandal on the TV news stations.

What it comes down to is simple, the Houston Astros cheated to win the World Series in 2017 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The Houston Astros however not only cheated to win the world series, but actually found it necessary to cheat their way into the playoffs.

2017 World Series Scandal, did all the players and staff know?

Astros cheated their way into the world series and cheated to win the world series against the Dodgers.

yahoo.com/search/video

Now, how did they manage to accomplish such a task, easy, they simply used modern electronics and old fashion signaling to get it done.  Apparently they set up a live feed from behind second base directly into the dug out then would simply hit the bench, or a wall or clap their hands to let the batter know exactly what pitch was being throw by the pitcher.

**Astros cheated their way to the world series and cheated to win the world series against the Dodgers**

Unfortunately, the sign stealing hurt Kershaw’s abilities but not as much as what it did to the two times Davish pitched, he become the scrape goat for the Dodgers loss of the World Series. Some fans have even apologized, but in my opinion,  even with the stealing of the signs, only Davish was totally destroyed, he just could not overcome the problem.

Rob Manfred, who is an American lawyer and business executive and who is the tenth and current Commissioner of Baseball, says Astros could face severe penalties for sign-stealing scandal.

msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/rob-manfred-says-astros-could-face-severe-penalties-for-sign-stealing-scandal

The baseball commissioner says that there will be severe penalties for sign-stealing. In my opinion, that should mean a total forfeiting of the World Series.

Let the record show that for the year 2017, their was NO winner. It would even be better if not only they had to forfeit the game but the Baseball Commissioner awarding the win the LA Dodgers.

Now that would send a clear message to everyone involved in this scandal or in any future cheating scandals that “cheaters never prosper”.

A century after Black Sox, baseball cheating goes high-tech

https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/national/story

As per Wikipedia, The Black Sox Scandal was a Major League Baseball match fixing incident in which eight members of the Chicago White Sox were accused of intentionally losing the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for money from a gambling syndicate led by Aaron Nelson, Aiden Clayton, and Arnold Rothstein. The fallout from the scandal resulted in the appointment of Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis as the first Commissioner of Baseball, granting him absolute control over the sport in order to restore its integrity.

Despite acquittals in a public trial in 1921, Judge Landis permanently banned all eight men from professional baseball. The punishment was eventually defined to also include banishment from post-career honors such as consideration for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Despite requests for reinstatement in the decades that followed (particularly in the case of Shoeless Joe Jackson), the ban remains in force.

Will Astros sign-stealing revelations lead MLB into a bottomless pit of scandals? msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/will-astros-sign-stealing-revelations-lead-mlb-into-a-bottomless-pit-of-scandals

One has to wonder what measures the MLB and their commissioner will take to prevent this from happening again. You only have to ask that, because, even though the Astros lost to the Washington Nationals, did they cheat? Personally, I don’t think this is going away any time soon, especially with the start of the 2020 baseball season begins in a few short months.

As for the Black Sox scandal, every player that know about the bribe was though out to baseball, My question now is should every play and staff be thought out of profession baseball.

Profession baseball is a big money sport and lots of money and many careers are made and broken by wants goes on in the game.

I am a huge fan of the game and I do not want to see a game that is fixed or a game where a team cheats to win.

Sports October 2019

Sports October 2019 is the beginning of the season for Football, Basketball and Hockey and the end of the Baseball season

October once again did not let us sport fans down. It started from day one, October 1, when the Washington Nationals beat the Milwaukee Brewers in the wild card MLB playoffs.

Then from October 2 until the 30th Sports October 2019we started the playoffs from round 1 all the way to the World Series.

However, for us Dodger fans, it was very disappointing to see the Dodgers get wiped out in game five of the matchup between the Dodgers and the Nationals.

Lot of fans were upset with Kershaw for blowing a two run lead and fans were especially upset with Dave Roberts with the circus of pitchers that ended with the Dodgers losing 7 to 3. www.dodgers.com

Dodgers: Fox Sports Asks Who is to Blame for the NLDS Game 5 Loss?
www.dodgersnation.com/dodgers-fox-sports-asks

Personally, I blame the coach, Dave Roberts. In my opinion, he chokes when it comes to the playoffs, including the two prior World Series games in 2017 and 2018.

Roberts selected the wrong pitchers over and over again. Unfortunately for us ‘True Blue’ fans, once again we must wait until next year.

Dave Roberts Surprised by Fans Wanting Him Fired. www.dodgersnation.com/dodgers-dave-roberts

However, I really don’t know if anything will change, yes the Dodgers will probably win their division next year and they even might make it to the World Series, but as long as Dave Roberts is the one is charge, it will be a miracle for the Dodgers to win the World Series in 2020.

Congratulation to the Washington Nationals for winning the World Series against the Houston Astros. It was a great way to end the baseball season for 2019. www.Mlb.com

October also saw the start of the National Hockey League. The Ducks of Anaheim come out strong in October and hopefully they will continue the run of wins, however the LA Kings had a bit of trouble at the beginning of October, but managed to get to together somewhat. www.NHL.com

He approached Hardy in 2004 with an idea for the future.

We are so fortunate to have not just one, but two hockey teams here is Southern CA and whether you are a Kings fan or a Ducks fan, doesn’t really matter, just like if you prefer the LA Angels or the LA Dodgers, doesn’t matter, you want both teams to do well at least until they play each other.

The same cannot be said for the fans of the LA Clippers or the LA Kings. For whatever reason, most fans of the Lakers, and not fans of the Clippers and the same goes for the Clipper fans.

By the way, the National Basketball League (NBA) also started in the month of October, and for the most part both the Lakers and the Clippers look good, better than they did last year as of this time.

It is still early in the season, and hopefully they will both improve. www.NBA.com

October is one of the few months that you are juggling your time watching the games, I would be trying to watch the baseball playoffs, along with Football and even a basketball game at the same time.

By October, not only are we watching National Football, but also College Football as well.

LA has two National football teams; both the LA Rams and the LA Charges, and for the most part they are both doing well. www.nfl.com

The same cannot be said for our local college teams, USC and UCLA. USC is at least showing up for the games and have even won a few; however, the same cannot be said UCLA.

Their Coach, Chip Kelly, doesn’t seem to be a good fit for the team. By the end of October UCLA has only won 3 and lost 5. Whereas, USC has won 5 and lost 3. www.NCCAfootball.com.

Not only has College Football started but College Basketball is right behind them with a starting date of November 5, 2019.

www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men

To wrap this up there is a whole lot of sports that was played in the month of October and I didn’t even mention high school football, basketball or water polo.

The month of November will see a slight deduction in the number of sports played but not in the actual games played. We will see an increase in the amount of basketball, football and hockey games to make up for the loss of baseball and until next baseball season starts, that’s a good thing.

It’s Time For Baseball

April 2019

Spring and it’s time for baseball

Are you ready for the 2019 Baseball season to start, hopefully yes, since it has already started with the Los Angeles Dodgers playing the Arizona Diamond Backs at the Home Opener March 28,It's Time For Baseball which by the way the Dodgers won with the score of 12 to 5. The Dodgers looked sharp and played with all the excitement of it being Opening Day at home.

However, the second game in the series against the D-Backs, once again the Dodger relief pitchers did not look sharp. In fact, they sent the game into overtime, which eventually ended with the Dodger’s first loss of the new season. www.Dodgers.com

The opening game for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim was also played March 28 against the Oakland A’s with the Oakland A’s winning with the score of 4 to 0.  The Angels were simply outplayed, hopefully it was just due to opening day jitters and a new manager.

At first, the second game the Angels played against the Oakland A’s did not look promising, the Angels had difficulty getting any hits. However, against the relief pitchers from the Oakland A’s, the Angels bats woke up in the eighth inning for the win. www.LAAngels.com

Both of our home teams went through a whole re-mixing of their teams.  The Dodgers traded Puig, Kemp and a few others to the Cincinnati Reds in a 7 player deal, and they will be missed. What the Dodgers got in exchange was a few new rookies and a few fairly good pitchers.

www.ocregister.com

Manny Machado also left the Dodger organization, he went over to the San Diego Padres with a over the top long term contract and a very large sum of money.

Apparently the owners of the Dodgers have come to realize that just because you have one of the largest payrolls in baseball (even higher than the New York Yankees) it doesn’t necessary mean you are going to win the ‘World Series’. So after two attempts to win the Worlds Series and two losses to show for it, they have cut their payroll by trading the players with a cash incentive to the Cincinnati Reds and did not even attempt to keep Machado with a new contract.

www.nypost.com

The Angels not only had to deal with trading a few good players, but will also have to deal with the team having a new manager this year.  After being the manager of the Angels since 1999 Mike Scioscia retired and this will be Brad Ausms very first year as the new manager of the Angels.  Hopefully Brad will be able to get the Angels back into the playoffs and maybe even the ‘World Series’.

Now on to some exciting news, the baseball commissioner, Bob Manfred, is definitely looking into expanding the number of baseball teams.  There are now 30 teams and he would like to expand from 30 to 32.

The article reads in part – A whole lot of time has passed since the Montreal Expos packed their bags and moved to Washington, D.C. The Twins and the Marlins have come up with long-sought-after new ballparks while the Oakland A’s and the Tampa Bay Rays continue to try to grind ones out.

Along the way, Bud Selig stepped down, and Rob Manfred ascended into the role of commissioner of Major League Baseball. The media rights explosion took hold, and the league’s coffers have overflowed.

One of the things that Manfred would like to see as part of his legacy as the 10th commissioner is expansion to 32 clubs, from the 30 we have now.

Commissioner Manfred has said that he envisions eight divisions of four teams. The regular season would likely be shortened, and the postseason expanded with additional teams. Click on the link below to read the full article

www.forbes.com

It is not just about Major League Baseball starting their season, but there is also College Baseball, which has started as well, as well as most high school baseball games and all the way down to Little League Baseball.

It’s Springtime and that means “It’s time for Baseball”.

Good luck to our Los Angeles Dodgers and our Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Lets Talk Sports Feb. 2019

Lets Talk Sports Feb. 2019, Baseball , Hockey, College and Pro Basketball

Yes, there is sports after football. sports talk Feb. 2019 After the Super Bowl, some sports fans will be asking ‘now what’.

Well, there is always Baseball season, which is just a few weeks away. Pre-season for the Dodgers start February 13 with just the pitchers and catchers reporting in and the rest of the Dodgers will report in February 19.

www.mlb.com/dodgers

The first actual pre-season game is schedule for February 23, with the Dodgers playing the Chicago White Sox. However, the first time the Dodgers will be playing the Los Angeles Angels with be Sunday February 23 at Camelback Ranch – Glendale in Phoenix Arizona

Mark your calendar, The Dodgers ‘Home Opening’ game will be March 28 against the Arizona D-Backs.

Besides Baseball and Football, there is also Hockey; we have two southern California teams, the LA Kings and the Ducks of Anaheim.  Hopefully, since football is done until August and baseball doesn’t get serious until late March, this would be a great time to get reacquainted with the game of Hockey.

At the time I was writing this, the Ducks are in fifth place and the Kings are in last place in the Western Division.    The games are not easy to find on TV, and hopefully the games will be easier to locate as there is less competition on the local TV channels.

The Anaheim Ducks: https://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/anaheim/
The Los Angeles Kings: https://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/los-angeles/

The Los Angeles Kings:   sports.yahoo.com/nhl

For the Sport fans that may not be into Hockey, there is always Basketball, and again we have two local teams.  If you are not a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, there is always the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Lakers right now are in 3rd place and the Clippers are in 2rd place in the Western Division. The Lakers should start to improve their standing as several players are coming off the injury list, including, King James.

I have saved the best for last when it comes to February and March, that is, after the Super Bowl, and that would be March Madness.

The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament begins Tuesday, March 19, 2019, and ends Monday, April 8, 2019, but the hype will starts around mid-February.  Since the introduction of Bracketology, March Madness has taking on a life of its own.  cbssports.com/college-basketball/bracketology/

Over the next few weeks, thousands of sports fans from all over the US and even the world will be downloading their brackets to join in the fun of picking who will end up winning the whole thing come Mid-April.

If you have ever wondered how the field of 68 teams is picked for March Madness, check out the link below.

Hopefully Southern California will be fully represented; in fact Gonzaga is within reach of knocking Kansas out of the number one seed.  In the Pac 12 Division Washington will be a shoe in to make the tournament, however, UCLA still need to improve its standing and USC is in trouble

Whatever your favorite sport is, February will be full of surprises.

Go Lakers

Go Lakers, This could be the year for another championship

Go Lakers

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Lakers for pulling off the biggest coup of all times by signing LeBron James.

Lakers Officially Sign LeBron James.

www.nbclosangeles.com/news/sports

Besides the huge salary that LeBron James will receive and the increase in Laker ticket prices to help cover this huge salary, why did the Lakers sign James? LeBron is suppose to put the Lakes back on track. Make them a contender again. Get them back to winning games instead of the so so performances from them over the past several years.

Between the seasons of 1979 -1980 to 1989 -1990 The LA Lakers were in 7 championship games winning 4 out of the 7 championship games

Between the seasons of 1990-1991 to 1999-2000 the LA Lakers were in 2 championship games and winning 1 out of the 2 games

Between the seasons of 2000-2001 to 2009 -2010 The Lakers were in 5 games winning 4 out of the 5.

However between the seasons of 2010 to now the The LA Lakers have not made even one single playoff game. What Happened?? Are the Lakers that bad or is it that the rest of the NBA is now that good?

The Lakers have tried in the past to fix their problems with expensive talent like when they traded for Dwight Howard, Gary Payton, Karl Malone, and Dennie Rodman, It was an improvement but not enough to win, especially when some of that expensive talent kept ending up on the DL list

The Lakers have also tried dipping into the young ‘up and coming star talent, such as Lonzo Ball, again a little help but not enough to pull the whole team together.

www.thesportster.com/basketball
However what is going to happen with Lonzo dad who doesn’t get along with LeBron James
It is going to be anyone guess, will the Lakers trade the young star or keep him?

What happens to Lonzo Ball now that LeBron James is a Laker?

www.sbnation.com/2018

This coming season might be the one that actually might be able to come to that perfect balance between the old and the new, the inexperienced player learning from the experienced ones. The biggest benefit will come from each and every player on the Laker team learning to act as a team. A very famous quote says “There is no I in the word team”. They need to reply more on their passing game then their individual shooting stats.

www.thesportster.com/basketbal

When watching the Lakers from the 1980 to the 1990 it was all about the passing game, yes, you took the shot when you had the opportunity. However you also passed the ball around and around totally wearing out the other team, making the other team have to respond to every completed pass to a player as the one that could end up as a completed shot. Kareen Abdul-Jabber and Magic Johnson were famous for this technique. Even Shaq would push his weight and size around passing when it was needed and it won the Lakers a lot of
Championships.

Showtime,” throughout the 1980s, was the term coined to most aptly describe the flash that was the playing style of the Los Angeles Lakers. With a run and gun style offence that redefined the fast break, it was a Laker era that (along with a strong Boston Celtic team in the East), revitalized the National Basketball Association. It was undoubtedly a Laker dynasty whose sole focus rested on two mantras: winning and the team. Conversely, in the present age of huge contracts and a stat-driven NBA culture that seemingly focuses on the individual, the notion of winning for and as a team now appear as archaic philosophical concepts, yet that is, by and large, where the NBA finds itself.

April Not A Great Month For So Cal Pro Teams

April is Not A Great Month For So Cal Pro Teams. This past month of April went bye in such a burr.

For us sport fans, we barely had time to recover from the winter Olympic Games, March Madness and the start of National Baseball when we also saw the start of the National Basketball playoffs and even the National Hockey playoffs started.April not a great month for So Cal pro teams

As a Dodger fan I am a little concerned about how much losing the World Series last year would affect this year’s performance.   So far it seems that my concerns are right on the mark.  The whole team seems to have started the season without their normal spark.  They look and act as if they are still in spring training.   I cannot even remember when the Dodgers have had such a lack-luster beginning.   As of the end of April they are 12 wins and 16 losses. Thank goodness it’s the start of the season and not October.

When was the last time that out of four opportunities for Kenley Jenson to come in and put the game away and wrap-up a win for the dodgers, he instead blows it three times.

Kenley Jansen blows another save, but Dodgers rally to beat Padres in 12 innings

Kenley Jansen blows another save, but Dodgers rally to beat Padres in 12 innings

Our hero Clayton Kershaw isn’t doing much better either, out of his last six starts he has 4 losses.  That is so unusual for him and along with rest of the team cannot seem to find their groove either.  Hopefully it will pass as the season progresses and they once again play as the team we have come to love and enjoy.

The Los Angeles Angels are actually doing quite way, as of the end of April they have 16 wins and only 12 losses. www.LAAngels.com

The news isn’t any better with LA’s Hockey. Unfortunately we saw the LA Kings get pushed around in the first round of the NHL playoffs as they are swept by the Vegas Golden Knights.

There wasn’t a whole lot of celebrating for us LA Sports fans when it came time for the NBA playoffs to start.  Neither the LA Lakers nor the LA Clippers even made it in to the playoffs this year and that hasn’t happened in a very long time.

Actually the last time neither the Lakers nor Clippers made the playoffs was 2004-05, which happened to be the season after the Lakers traded Shaquille O’Neal to the Heat, and finished 34-48.

Its Time for Dodgers and Angels Baseball

It’s Time for Dodgers and Angels Baseball too!

This past off season was tough for most Dodger and Angel fans.

It’s Time For Dodgers and Angels Baseball

Lots of fans asking what happened to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim? It was indeed a difficult year for them, loaded with of key players getting injured and a bunch of rookies that just struggled from day one.

The Angels ended the 2017 season with 80 wins and 82 losses, they still managed to end up in second place, but it was not good enough to even make the playoffs.

First place in the AL West Division was held by the Houston Astros and as we well know, they went on to beat the LA Dodgers in the 2017 World Series. It would have been an epic World Series if the Angels took out Houston and ended up playing the Dodgers instead of Houston. So close and yet so far!

Speaking as a couch potato coach, it seems on paper the Dodgers should have easily beat the Houston Astros, however, personally I think Dave Roberts putting in Yu Darvish to pitch in the deciding game, when he had blown the game he pitched in just before that and then keeping him in the game for 2 inning was a huge mistake or was it just plain stupid.

That right, Darvish had already proven without a doubt that he was totally not capable of pitching for the Dodgers when he blew the third game of the series and allowed all those runs in the second inning, he allowed 4 runs before Roberts pulled him from that game.

Dave Roberts should have never let him pitch in the 7th game. The Dodgers and the Astros were tied at 3 games apiece not a good time to allow Darvish to pitch.  It wasn’t like Roberts did not have any other pitchers available.

Unfortunately for the Dodgers, Darvish once again allowed 2 runs in the first inning and 2 additional runs in the second inning before once again being yanked. That was in my opinion, once again plain stupid.

Both games were lost by Dave Roberts trust in Yu Darvish. The good news is that Darvish is gone from the Dodger lineup, he is now a Chicago Cubs.

There is more good news for us Dodger fan, Matt Kemp is now back as a Dodger.

Football has survived several strikes by players and lockouts by the owners, but this past year, it has been a combination of several things and has many owners and fans wondering about the future of football.

The Referrers have certainly done their best to drive professional football into the ground. There is no flow to the games anymore. Just as a team looks like it might be doing something interesting, there’s a flag thrown. Over and over again though out the whole game its flag after flag. Some are definitely called for, but you and I both know that some of the calls are so very iffy. Referrers should not be able to determine the winner of the game or what the point spread will be. They are just killing the game.

The Refs are ruining the game

Then add the ‘new’ type of sports announcer. They are filled with all sorts of sport facts, but very little personality. They are so boring. They, themselves, seem bored with the game. Monday night football use to be fun to watch but now, not as much.

I wish Jon Gruden’s new partner would show a little more excitement for the game. Same holds true for other sports announcers as well. Thursday night game announcers rarely show any interest in the game let along any excitement.

You can also add the lack of really good players to the list as well. There definitely seems to be shortages of good quarterbacks or a decent front line to protect them and don’t even get me started on what happened to receivers that can actually catch the ball.

Football can and should survive any of the above, but all of them in one season? Then add the most damaging event that has directly affected football the most and that is the kneeling during the National Anthem.

TV viewers and what advertisers will pay for TV ads is where the NFL actually makes their money. They need sponsorship’s to pay the highly priced salaries of their professional football players. It also puts a whole lot of money into the owners pockets as well. But viewership is down by over 5%, which has gotten the attention of several sponsors, such as ‘Papa John’ and ‘Nike’ who are threatening to pull out of advertising during the NFL games

This Is Why the NFL Is Losing Viewers
http://stevetobak.com/2017/10/01/nfl-losing-viewers/

No matter how you look at it, football is a great sport. But it’s changing, and not for the better. I’m talking about the way the owners have turned pro football into a nanny sport. With all the nutty rules, penalties, play reviews, and game delays, no wonder googling “NFL no fun league” got more than five million results.

The league is losing millions of viewers every year. It will be interesting to see how the NFL owners, the players and their sponsors can do to fix this or if it can even be fixed. Let’s all hope that a solution can be found before the 2018 season.

There are people that will go to a game, like there was when we were ask to boycott football for Veteran’s day Weekend. You know those bargain seekers looking for these ticket they usually can’t afford. Those bargain seekers will not support the salaries these players are getting today.

Players, your salaries are being paid by today’s Sponsors and by people willing to pay those overprice tickets to watch you play. Those people that watch you on TV want a fast moving game with no politics.

I watch football for entertainment only, which football has not been this year. Add to that the number of people that only look at the stats for fantasy football and probably don’t even watch the games. Football as we know it today may come to an end.

Sports May 2017

Sports MAY 2017

The pro teams of So Cal

As we prepare to celebrate Mother’s day and Memorial Day, we sometimes forget how important May is in the world of sports.

And there are a whole lot of sports going on in the month of May!

To start with we are still wrapping up the end of the NHL playoffs.
http://www.playoffstatus.com/nhl/nhlplayoffschedule.html.

Good luck to the Anaheim Ducks, who are still in the running for the Stanley Cup. Go Ducks !

The NBA is still working on their playoffs too and unfortunately for the Los Angeles Clippers they are already done having lost to the Utah Jazz. And once again the Los Angeles Lakers did not make the playoffs.

The teams that are still in the running are Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Boston Celtics, Washington Wizards, the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Toronto Raptors.

Soccer is in the middle of its season with several matches being played all over the world, it is just hard to find the games on TV.

May is also ‘National Physical Fitness and Sports Month’ – Did you know that, I didn’t – apparently not much hoop-la over this as compared to ‘National Donut Day’ where you can get a free donut at just about any donut shop.

Among them the popularity of NF Cure capsules is increasing leaps appalachianmagazine.com prices cialis and bounds for its super cure competence. For example, simple starches like white order levitra canada rice may require careful planning. Vaginismus is when muscles in and around vagina go into spasm, making sexual intercourse difficult and sometimes impossible. viagra best Oral medications Oral medications require a certain amount of time and earned a certain amount of money through the process of selling the junk to a particular organism. cialis sildenafil National Physical Fitness and Sports month was designated in 1983 by the President’s Council on Fitness to promote healthy lifestyles among all Americans and improve our quality of life.

However, even with all the above going on, May is still best known for its Baseball. There is almost a game every single day or evening with several games on Saturday and Sunday.

Over the past several years it has come to the attention of baseball team owners that Mother’s Day is a great day to extend the welcome mat to women. Just like the NFL, the MLB has decided to now market to women. It has definitely become apparent to sport teams that women are an untapped ‘gold mine’.

The Dodgers will be out of town for Mother’s day weekend playing the Colorado Rockies. But the Rockies will be honoring Mothers by having a Family photo ticket package along with handing out Mother’s Day tote Bags to the first 10,000 fans. Colorado Rockies schedule and promotions

However, the Los Angeles Angels will be in town playing the White Sox and they are definitely aiming for it to be a special day for ‘mom’. The Angels will be handing out Mother Day Flower Vase with the Angel logo on it.

The Dodgers will be playing their rivals, the San Francisco Giants a total of six times in May, three times at the Dodger Stadium and three times up north in San Francisco. Go Dodgers!

During one of the games before the Dodgers played the SF Giants and lost – Vin Scully received another honor by the Dodger organization. It was great listening to him once again tell his stories of past achievements by Dodger players. His speech ended with his informing the crowd that it “Time for Dodger Baseball”. A phase that has been sorely missed this past season by dodger fans.

Vin Scully returns to Dodger Stadium for ring of honor induction

The month of May is also when voting for your favorite baseball player for the annual “All Star game’ which is played in July opens up. Don’t forget to vote.

As I mentioned May is a very important month in sports and us sports fans we just need to sit back and enjoy.

College Bowl Games

To Many College Bowl Games?

As I started writing this blog I realize that there were still a few college bowl games left.

However, this year there was over forty college bowl games, that was a bit much, don’t you think?

To Many College Bowl games Yes or NO

I tried to have the same amount of zest for each game, but it was hard. UCLA looked as bad in their bowl game as they did when they played USC. Air Force didn’t look much better playing CA-Berkeley. Or how bad was it watching Boise State play Northern Illinois at the Poinsettia Bowl on December 23, the final score was Boise 55 and Northern Illinois 17.

There were also several games that were very good and even a couple that were upsets, such as Houston upsets Florida State 38-24 in Peach Bowl.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/houston-upsets-florida-state-38-24-in-peach-bowl-212942310.htm
Or how about the Alamo Bowl , with TCU, Horned Frogs playing the Oregon Ducks, it was like watch two different games with the first half being won by the Ducks and the second half being won by the Horned Toads.

Many sports announcers have made comments about how boring this year’s bowl games were.
They blamed it on the pairing up of the teams, the amount of bowl games and the TV schedule of several games being played on New Year’s Eve.

It has been said that only Alabama-Clemson can save college football’s worst bowl season.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/only-alabama-clemson-can-save-college-football-s-worst-bowl-season-073817921.html

I understand the need for college football bowl games; I know it’s all about the money that they generate for the schools. Most of it coming from TV sponsors, but how many of these forty plus bowl games were actually worth watching? I tried to watch as many of these games as possible, but several actually put me to sleep.

Men suffering from frequent PE also suffer from fatigue, weak erection, low sperm count, poor stamina, and low energy. best buy on cialis This medication with the sildenafil pills viagra canada citrate ingredient proffers an effective treatment of men’s erection problem.
The money that these bowl games generate go toward school scholarships and help support many of the other sport activities that college offer, but don’t bring in the necessary money to support them.
There is another reason that the college bowl games are important, at least to several of the senior football players, and that is to give them one last chance to show off their football skills to the NFL, thus improving their chances of entering the NFL draft.

One of the first of these senior players is the CA-Berkeley Quarterback, Jared Goff announcing he’s entering the NFL draft. Believe me, by the end of January or February the list will be long.
Unfortunately for most college football players, the majority of them will never play pro-ball.

Maybe the forces, that not only rank the college football teams during the year, but also select
what teams goes to what bowls can figure out a way to do a better job at lining up what school plays what school. This past bowl season was definitely not the best college has to offer and hopefully the selection committee will learn from their past mistakes.

One can only hope!
