Football Season 2017 is About To Start

It ‘s August and that means football is definitely in the air

You can just feel the excitement in the air and the around the ‘watercooler’ at work.  It starts out slowly at first and continues to keep building.  FOOTBALL is right around the corner, both professional, and College.

Whether it’s the NFL, College or even Peewee, it’s all about the game of football.

ESPN, Sports Central, and various other sports programs are all staring to focus more on football and less on ‘other sports’ even baseball will take a backseat to football.  It’s all about the game.

It starts in late July, with talks of who is getting trading, or is coming off an injury from last year, but it doesn’t stop with that.  The sports reporters are also keeping us informed on the players personal lives as well.  Who got married, divorced, or arrested.  What players and coaches got caught doing drugs, alcohol, or cheating on their wifes/girlfriends? Again it’s all about keeping football in the headlines. The hype is on!

There is also the world of ‘Fantasy Football’.  Football fans are spending hours searching the web for news on their favorite players.  Who’s got the best stats?

What team has the best defense?   There is a strong believe that Fantasy football is been the reason that football has gain so many more followers than just a few years ago.  TV ratings are good for the individual games shown on regular TV, but the introduction of ‘Red Zone’ by Satellite and cable has really taken football to a new level, especially for ‘fantasy football fans.

There is the Red Zone, a cable football sport station that shows all the games played on each Sunday during football season as each team entered the ‘red zone’.

Last season on several occasion I got to watch 6 games at once on a split screen.  There are also no commercials and what’s more important, they show the stats of some of the individual football players and Every Touchdown From edzone.

With the runaway success of fantasy football, the NFL is more than eager to help keep football in the news. Unfortunately, all the news out there has not been good, but it does keep football on the minds.

We still have football players running into trouble with the law and this is just before the season starts.  You have to wonder what goes through their heads, just when the coaches and the team owners are watching every move they make.  By the start of the season in September, the NFL teams will have to be down to around fifty or so players.

As a player who hasn’t quite made the team, I would want to be noticed, but for how great a player I am and for no other reason.

As a fantasy football player this year, not only do you have to be concerned with injuries, but who might be going off to a bit of jail time.   Ask anyone who had Aaron Hernandez as one of their players a few years ago.

Preseason Training Camp News

As far as picking my fantasy team, I will try to watch some of the pre-season games along with trying to keep track of all the injuries and there have been a lot of those.  In fact I can’t remember when the NFL has had so many before the season even starts.  Still out so far is Andrew Luck.

College football is also gearing up to start, preseason will end and the regular season will start right around September 2.

There is a lot of talk of who will be the best this year; so far Alabama leads the top 25 college teams.

The process of the normal fan preparing for football will included a stop at their favorite local market for chicken wings, chips, and beer if we are going to be watching the games at our home or a friend’s. It’s will also include a quick arranging of our schedules to make sure we are within range of a television set, computer or even our cell phones to keep track of our fantasy teams.
