World Series 2016 Cubs Win

Was that or was that not a great world series?  Some people are even calling it ‘epic’, especially the last couple of games.

It was definitely an early Christmas present for Cubs fans all over.  The Chicago Cubs were down 3 games to 1 with the Cleveland Indians only needing one game to take the series, and win the World Series for 2016.   But apparently it just wasn’t in the cards for Cleveland.

Here’s How the Chicago Cubs Won Game 7 and the World Series

Christmas indeed came early again for the Cubs, with one win, then another win, and then it was down to each team having 3 wins each, 3 for the Indians and 3 for the Cubs. Who was going home the 2016 world champions and who was going home the losers?

Chicago Cubs fans from all over flocked to Chicago to be part of history, to be part of the celebration, just to say I was there!   Thousands of fans descended on Wrigley Field, home of

Cubs even with the Cubs actually playing the last two games played in the Progressive field, home of the Cleveland Indians.

An estimated five million Cubs fans made their way to Chicago on Friday to celebrate the winning of the World Series championship, the last time they won was 108 years ago.

The Cubs won back-to-back World Series championships in 1907 and 1908, becoming the first major league team to play in three consecutive World Series, and the first to win it twice. Most recently, the Cubs won the 2016 National League Championship Series and 2016 World Series, which ended a 71-year National League pennant drought and a 108-year World Series

Championship drought, both of which are record droughts in Major League Baseball

The 108-year drought was also the longest such occurrence in all major North American sports. Since the start of divisional play in 1969, the Cubs have appeared in the postseason eight times through the 2016 season.

The Cubs were playing in their eleventh World Series and their first since 1945, and won their first championship since 1908. It was the Indians’ sixth appearance in the World Series and their first since 1997, with their last Series win in 1948. The two teams entered their matchup as the two franchises with the longest World Series title droughts, a combined 176 years without a championship. Cleveland manager Terry Francona, who had previously won Series titles with the Boston Red Sox in 2004 and 2007, fell short in his bid to become the third manager, after Casey Stengel and Joe Torre, to win his first three trips to the Series

The Cleveland Indians are an American professional baseball team based in Cleveland, Ohio. The Indians compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) Central division. Since 1994, they have played at Progressive Field. The team’s spring training facility is at Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, Arizona.

Since their establishment as a major league franchise in 1901, the Indians have won two World Series championships: in 1920 and 1948, along with eight Central Division titles and six American League pennants. The Indians’ current World Series championship drought is the longest active drought, and through 2016 is the fifth-longest in baseball history.

The name “Indians” originated from a request by club owner Charles Somers to baseball writers to choose a new name to replace “Cleveland Naps” following the departure of Nap Lajoie after the 1914 season. The name referenced the nickname “Indians” that was applied to the Cleveland Spiders baseball club during the time when Louis Sockalexis, a Native American, played in Cleveland.[4] Common nicknames for the Indians include the “Tribe” and the “Wahoos”, the latter being a reference to their logo, Chief Wahoo, a controversial Native American caricature. The team’s mascot is named “Slider.”

The Cleveland Indians originated in Michigan in 1894 as the Grand Rapids Rustlers, a minor league team in the Western League. The team moved to Cleveland in 1900, changing its name to the Cleveland Lake Shores; the Western League itself changed its name to the American League (AL) while continuing its minor league status. One of the American League’s eight charter franchises, the major league incarnation of the club was founded in Cleveland in 1901. Originally called the Cleveland Bluebirds, the team played in League Park until moving permanently to Cleveland Stadium in 1946. The Cleveland Indians reached the World Series in 2016 and held a 3–1 lead against the Chicago Cubs, but they ultimately lost the series. At the end of the 2016 season, they had a regular season franchise record of 9,191–8,837 (.510).

Not only did the Chicago and Cleveland fans enjoy the World Series, but apparently so did a lot of sport fans.

World Series a boon for Fox with 40.5 million watching finale

The 2016 World Series was the 112th edition of Major League Baseball‘s championship series, a best-of-seven playoff between the National League (NL) champion Chicago Cubs and the American League (AL) champion Cleveland Indians, the first meeting of those franchises in postseason history.

The Indians had home-field advantage because the AL had won the 2016 All-Star Game. The Cubs defeated the Indians in seven games, their first World Series victory in 108 years. They clinched the Series in Game 7 with an 8–7 win in extra innings, marking the fifth time that a Game 7 had gone past nine innings, and the first one to have a rain delay, which happened just as the tenth inning was about to start. It was only the sixth time in World Series history that a team came back from a deficit of three games to one to win a championship. This was the third consecutive year that the visiting team won the deciding game of the World Series.

The Chicago’s newspapers headlines were all about the end of their curse. What curse? The Chicago Cubs’ billy goat curse placed on the team back in 1945, by a fan not being allowed to bring his goat to the game even though he had brought the goat a ticket.

Believe it! Chicago Cubs ended the curse and win 2016 World Series

Hopefully next year’s World Series will be as great as this one and it will include the Los Angeles Dodgers or The Los Angeles Angels.

SuperBowl, The Big Game

Wow, it is here the XLV (45th) SuperBowl, The Big Game of Football in the US, The Top Two Terms, One from the NFC and One from the AFC. This is one of the closes match-ups I have seen in a while, with only a 2.5 point spread between them.

This game is going to come down to the power and control of the quarterbacks over their team. These are both hard hitting, hard playing and out for blood teams. In other words, good old-fashion ‘smash mouth football’.

The Teams are the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the two quarterbacks are Aaron Rogers and Ben Roethlisberger. There has been a whole lot of talk about how important this game is personally to both Rogers and Roethlisberger. Rogers needs the win to finally put the days of being Brett Favre understudy behind him and Roethlisberger needs the win the show the world that he is grown past the days of being in the headlines for another things besides football, it also doesn’t hurt that it would be the seventh ‘Superbowl’ win for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The commercials are also in a big fight to be the best, for it’s one of the biggest viewing events on TV. The Super Bowl, The Big Game. So, find who has the biggest TV in your family, friends or in your neighborhood, find a good seat and enjoy the Game.

Green Bay Packers Wins The Super Bowl

Game over, Green Bay Wins or should we said Pittsburgh Steelers loses. The Pittsburgh Steelers lost the game from the start and continued to lose the game through to the end and I mean, Roethlisberger, the Steeler’s quarterback threw several interceptions that give Green Bay several touchdowns and one field goal.

Yes, it looked like the Pittsburgh Steelers were going to take over the lead and possible go on to win the game after the start of the second half, but it seemed like Green Bay knew exactly where and when Roethlisberger was going to throw the football.

Green Bay must have studied Roethisberger’s every move and the Steelers must have missed studying Rodgers, the Green Bays quarterback, play patterns or The Packers changed now Rodger’s was going to play, because Rodger was completing just about every pass he made.

I can’t said that Pittsburgh Steelers were out played, but I will say that it did seem that they were out coached .

I can never understand why teams that have some time left on the clock try to go for the long past then throw the football away. Why not just go for the first down and have at least a couple of more tries. Fourth down, with 5 yards to go, 50+ seconds on the clock with one time out,and Pittsburgh goes for a pass which Green Bays was waiting for.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were out coach, not out played. The game was a good hard hitting game, low number of penalties, no really hard hits and fairly decent referring.

You could even say that the Steelers panicking that ended the game and threw away any chance they had to win the game

Green Bay, had better control of the football and better timing between Roger and his receivers.

This is the way I saw the game, but all in all it was a good game. Congratulations Green Bay, 2011 Super Bowl Winners

The other big event for yesterday, was the commercials. As of this morning, I hear that the Doritos chip commercial with the dog being call and belting down the door for the Doritos chip. Question; Are Doritos going to the dogs? The most disappointing to me was the Budeiser commercial with the bad guy coming into the bar and everyone rushing to get him a Bud. That was fine, until he breaks into song, what was that all about? and the town turn to joy? My last disappointment, the Clydesdale Horses were shown in the commercial as back ground, like an old actor who time is about to end for future commercials. Bud, I would be looking for new writers!

This is only my opinion
